Collin Brown of Raymond was named the Student of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Adult and Community Education (MAACE) at their annual June conference. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ employee Debra Perkins was named Support Staff of the Year.
Brown, 20, is a student at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’ Rankin Campus Adult Education program at the Career-Technical Education Building on Greenfield Road in Pearl.
Brown said the program has helped him “come out of my shell, communicate more and make new friends.â€
His nomination letter from the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Adult Education program said: “Collin is a very dedicated student. While he has faced some academic challenges he strives to continue.â€
Perkins, an intake specialist for the Adult Education program at the Rankin Campus Adult Education program, has worked in adult education for more than 25 years.
A statement in her nomination letter said the following: “Much of our success is owed to her. We would be much less of a program without her knowledge and support. She is always a team player and friendly reminder. She is the rock and the glue of not just a campus but of our department. She works hard from the moment she arrives to the minute she is leaving.â€
