Phlebotomy prepares individuals to collect blood specimens for clinical laboratories. This 160-clock hour course includes lecture, laboratory, and clinical experience. The class usually meets twice per week in a semester. Classes begin in the fall and spring semesters.
Phlebotomy Fast Track is an 80-clock hour course offered each year during the fall and spring semesters. Typically, the class meets one evening per week, typically on Monday. The course will prepare you to collect specimens of blood for the clinical laboratory. The lecture and laboratory components include 40 clock hours, while the clinical requirement totals 40 clock hours. Employment opportunities are available in the clinical laboratories of hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or physician offices.

Admission Requirements
Complete and submit the following
- Application for Admissionto Ӱ
- Application for Selectionto the Phlebotomy Program
- Effective for Fall 2022 applications will be available from Feb. 1 thru July 31 with preference given to applications completed by April 15.
- Effective for Spring 2023 applications will be available September 1 thru January 1 with preference given to applications completed by October 31.
- Validation of high school graduation by official high school transcript or high school equivalency transcript (GED®, HiSET®, TASC™, or Mississippi Competency-Based High School Equivalency). (For currently enrolled high school students, an updated transcript, validating high school graduation, will be required prior to beginning the program.)
- Official college transcripts from all colleges, except Ӱ
- ACT composite score of 15 (12 if taken before October 1989) OR an official Next Generation ACCUPLACER Reading score of 246, ACCUPLACER Reading score of 76, or Compass® Reading score of 72.
- Selection is based on the earliest date of completion.
- Letter from applicant’s employer verifying employment and experience level or proof of graduation from a health-related program. To qualify for this class, applicants must have six (6) months of work experience in a health-related field within the past 2 years or completion of a health-related program.
